Episode 1: How It All Started

It started with a simple question.

“What do you get someone who already has everything?”

You know the type. The person who says, “I don’t need anything,” and actually means it.

That question came up one Saturday while we were talking about birthdays, holidays, and the endless search for a gift that didn’t feel like it came from the “last-minute aisle.”

Store-bought gifts were nice…

But they didn’t feel personal. They didn’t tell a story. And they definitely didn’t make anyone say, “Wow… you actually put thought into this!”

That’s when the idea was born.

What if gifts could be different?

What if every item could be made just for the person receiving it — their photo, their memory, their personality?

And just like that, Sweet & Sour Saturday Crafts began.

Two friends. Opposite personalities. One shared mission: Create gifts people actually feel something about.

Some designs are sweet and sentimental. Some are funny, bold, sassy, or a little sarcastic. Because let’s be honest — not everyone is sunshine and butterflies… and honestly, neither are we.

Before long, friends started asking for custom shirts. Then mugs and tumblers. Then, family keepsakes.

And then something unexpected happened.

People didn’t just want cute or funny.

They wanted meaningful.

Then one customer came to us with a request that stopped us in our tracks.

It wasn’t for a birthday. It wasn’t for a holiday. And it definitely wasn’t something you’d find in a store.

It was something much more personal.

And honestly?

We weren’t sure if we could do it.
